Today we learned about the 3 types of irony.
Students got into groups and presented their type to the rest of the class. Then we analyzed The Crucible for irony using a handout. Today we worked on writing our allegories. We had the computers in class.
We discussed the ignorance prompt.
Then we learned about allegories and got our assignment to write one. We had a prompt called "Ignorance".
Then we discussed the "Mob Mentality" article and handed it in. Happy Halloween.
We did an activity where we described ourselves in the most suspicious way that we could. Then we had a reading day. We shared our sermons and then annotated an article called "Mob Mentality".
Today we learned about MLA formatting.
Then students started drafting their sermons. We finished annotations on the Mob Mentality article. We watched The Monsters are Due on Maple Street and a clip from Nosedive.
Then we started annotating the article on mob mentality. We discussed relational aggression.
Then we got our sermon instructions and read some. We read and answered questions about the sermon Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God by Jonathan Edwards. We got caught up on work and had time to work on our book projects.
We did a who's who and questions for act 1.
Then we did act 1 vocabulary. We ended by annotating an article called Relational Aggression. Today we created a 10 question quiz on the elements of drama. A random junior will take your quiz!
Then we started reading act 1 of the play. We learned about the New England Primer and Puritan beliefs. Then we did the Maxims Think with Ink. (attached below)
Today we watched a video about the Salem Witch Trials.
Honors class had a reading day. We presented our Webquest findings. Then we annotated an article called "How the Puritans Affected the Development of America". (Attached below) Then we compared and contrasted their lives to our own.
We discussed the article from last time and handed it in.

Today was commercial day. We analyzed commercials in class for audience, different appeals, and lifestyles. For homework, you must analyze 10 commercials using the handout. (attached below)
Today we went to the library for the first 20 minutes to look for a reading book.
Then we learned the true plot line from the Captain. We each plotted a story on scratch paper using the plot line and turned it in. |
