Then we read "Odin's Quest for Wisdom". We ended by receiving our Myth Bingo assignment. You get to write a myth! Today we watched a video on Thor and learned about the superhero version.

We read "the Building of the Wall." Then we learned about name meanings and translated our names into runic. The assignment is called "What's in a Name" and "Where You From?" We started Norse mythology!
We learned about the Vikings and what it means to be a Viking. We listened to the "Immigrant Song" by Led Zeppelin. We watched the film O Brother, Where Art Thou. And compared and contrasted it to the Odyssey.
We studied for the test and took the test on Classical Mythology.
We read the Odyssey and filled out the Odyssey think with inks.
We did an aftermyth for The House of Thebes trilogy.
Then we answered questions about a poem about Helen of Troy. We had a think with ink in anticipation of The Odyssey. Then we read part one. Today we read summaries of Oedipus at Colonus and Antigone.
We watched some videos on them. Then we read an article about Lana Del Rey and feminism. We shared one paragraph from our letter to a god.
Then we read Oedipus Rex and talked about fate and free will. Today we typed up our letter to a Greek god/dess. Then we shared one paragraph with the class. We ended with a Think with Ink called "Fate vs. Free Will". (attached below)
Today we watched a video about the Greek gods. Then we started writing a letter to one of them. (attached below)
We read one of five random myths and then acted them in front of the class.
Today we watched some video clips on ego. Then we filled out a think with ink on ego. (attached below) We ended by reading the myth of Narcissus and Echo.
We did an aftermyth for both love myths (Aphrodite and Loves of the Gods).
Next, we notes from a video on Roman influence on the Western world today. (youtube Tom Richey "ALL CARE" Then we learned about the Hero's Journey and archetypes. We wrote these down on the study guide. We had a think with ink on love (attached below) in response to a quote from Xena. Then we read the myth called The Loves of the Gods and answered the questions.
Today we showed off our Pandora's boxes and turned them in.
Then we learned about how the days of the week and months of the year got their names and looked for connections. We ended by reading an article arguing for a 13 month year. See the Captain for the handouts. Today we talked about love before reading the myth of Aphrodite.
Then we learned about the Olympian gods and watched a video by Tom Richey on why we should ALL CARE about the Greeks and Romans. We read about the great flood myth. We talked about early matriarchal Greek societies. Then we did the aftermyth for Prometheus and Pandora. Then we started our Pandora's Box assignment. (attached below) This assignment is due September 10th for A1 and 11th for B6.
We worked in groups of 4 and came up with things that can be shared without becoming diminished. (attached below) Then we read the myth Prometheus the Firebringer and answered the questions that go with it.
Today we learned how to write paragraphs and focused on topic sentences. (attached below) Make sure that you underline/circle all topic sentences in paragraphs for the rest of the semester. Then we received our "What Is a Classic?" assignment. (attached below) and had time in class with computers to start it. This assignment is due September 3rd for A1 and 4th for B6.
Today we talked about the creation of the universe in Classical Mythology. Then we learned about the different "Ages of Man". We ended by swearing in an oath to use topic sentences in all paragraphs! (attached below)
We finished getting to know each other and then we filled out a Literacy Inventory. (attached below) The rest of class was a discussion about what Mythology actual is and how it is hard to define. (attached below)
Today we introduced ourselves after going over the disclosure document.
