We read the myth "The Death of Balder" and talked about it.

We also learned how to play kubb by watching some videos.  There was too much snow to play it but if the snow melts, we will!

Then we got the instructions for the myth bingo.

We had a think with ink called "The Dark Side".

Then we read the myth of Loki and his children.

Next, we answered questions about the myth and did the aftermyth.

We shared our findings on the 3 wisdom sayings that we had.

Next, we read over and presented part of an article on Odin and wisdom.

Then we did the aftermyth for the myth.

Lastly, we watched some clips from the TV show Vikings and talked about armbands, allegiance, and honor among the Norsemen.

We started by reading about Thor as a man's god.

Then we watched a DVD on Thor.

Next, we did a handout analyzing Thor as a superhero.

We ended with wisdom saying of the Vikings.
We each got 3 to decipher and present next time using the following:

1. What does this saying mean?
2. Why did they value this saying?
3. Give an example of this in today's world.

To start, we read the lyrics to a Led Zepplin song about Vikings.

Then we read a script story about the building of the wall.

Finally, we talked about how the Europeans formed their last names.
There is an assignment to find out what your first, middle, and last names mean.  Also, find out, if you can, the origin of your last name.
