We shared one line of our final paper and handed them in. Then we read the myth "The Bride of the King" and talked about it. Then we read a handout on Tristan and Isolde. Lastly, we wrote a love letter to someone.
We had a power point about what the real King Arthur and Camelot might have been like.
Then we read and analyzed a poem called Miniver Cheevy. Lastly, we read and answered questions about midieval marriage. Today we learned about heraldry
and then designed and colored two shield crests / coat of arms using colored pencils and rulers. Today we read the myth "A Tale of Two Swords" and discussed the questions.
Then we talked about the think with ink "Anyone Can Cook" from last time. Then we handed them in. We shared our myths in groups of 3 or 4 and then handed them in.

We read about how to become a knight. Then we became a knight by swearing to defend 3 virtues in this life. We wrote a paragraph for each of the 3 virtues describing how we will exemplify these virtues. Then, in goups of 4, we read one chapter of a book on chivalry which we will present to the class next time. Today we discussed the Beowulf think with ink and handed it in. (attached below) Then we read some Anglo-Saxon riddles before writing one of our own.
Today we read the myth of Beowulf, parts one and two. Then we had a think with ink called Bae's wolf. (attached below)
Today we were introduced to the founding of Britain with a powerpoint and lecture.
Then we listened to clips of Old English as we read and answered questions about Old English. We learned about runes and Bluetooth.
Then we read about Ragnarok. We ended with time on computers to research our myth bingo assignment. We read the myth "The Death of Balder" and talked about it.
We also learned how to play kubb by watching some videos. There was too much snow to play it but if the snow melts, we will! Then we got the instructions for the myth bingo. We had a think with ink called "The Dark Side". Then we read the myth of Loki and his children. Next, we answered questions about the myth and did the aftermyth. Lastly, we got the instructions for the myth that you will write! We did this with something called Myth Bingo.
We shared our findings on the 3 wisdom sayings that we had.
Next, we read over and presented part of an article on Odin and wisdom. Then we did the aftermyth for the myth. Lastly, we watched some clips from the TV show Vikings and talked about armbands, allegiance, and honor among the Norsemen. We read the myth of Odin's Quest for Wisdom.
We answered the odd numbered questions at the end of the myth. Then we shared the meanings and origin of our names with the class. We had a think with ink on wisdom. (attached below)
We started by reading about Thor as a man's god.
Then we watched a DVD on Thor. Next, we did a handout analyzing Thor as a superhero. We ended with wisdom saying of the Vikings. We each got 3 to decipher and present next time using the following: 1. What does this saying mean? 2. Why did they value this saying? 3. Give an example of this in today's world. To start, we read the lyrics to a Led Zepplin song about Vikings.
Then we read a script story about the building of the wall. Finally, we talked about how the Europeans formed their last names. There is an assignment to find out what your first, middle, and last names mean. Also, find out, if you can, the origin of your last name. We finished and discussed our think with ink on power before handing it in.
Then we learned about the Norse pantheon with a handout and a powerpoint. Today we finished the movie and talked about the comparisons. Then we had a think with ink on power that pointed us toward Norse mythology.
We reviewed for the test and then we took the test on Classical Mythology.
If we had time, we started watching O Brother, Where Art Thou? Today we finished reading Odysseus and had our last think with ink on Odysseus (#3) Then we got the Classical Mythology study guide and went to the library to fill it out. The test will be exactly the study guide and will be the first class after Fall Break.
Today we read and discussed the myth of the cyclops and Circe the witch.
Today we went over parts 1 and 2 of the Odyssey Think with Inks before handing them in.
We read the second part of Odysseus and then we completed part 2 of the Think With Ink on Odysseus.
